Eligibility:

Each team will be comprised of 2 members. Requirements to register a team are as follows:

  • Either both players are NEDians, Or
  • One NEDian and one Non-NEDian, Or

Format:

  1. Event Format: Doubles; Rally point’s format- Will be 21 points for all the games, starting with a single service. Final will be played as best of 3 games. If a team loses both the games then 3rd game will not be played.
  2. There will be two pools, Pool 1 and Pool 2.
  3. Pools will be decided based on a draw (which will be conducted at least one week prior to the tournament, date and location of the draw will be announced later).
  4. Each Pool will comprise of 8 teams and will be named as:
    • Pool-1: 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E, 1F, 1G and 1H, similarly
    • Pool-2: 2A, 2B, 2C 2D, 2E, 2F, 2G and 2H

    The final number of teams in each pool will be decided based on the number of teams registered.

  5. Pool matches will be started in four courts simultaneously sharp @12:00 noon. Each team should be in the court @ 12:00 a.m. sharp at the above mentioned location.

Basic Rules for Game:

    1. Box will be wrong/out in service.
    2. If the shuttle falls on the line then it will be considered right/IN.
    3. If the shuttle touches/ brushes on the clothes, hair, or the racquet 2nd time than the opponent team will get the point.
    4. No point will be played again again except due to any condition making referee unable to make a good judgment or due to possible damage to shuttle.
    5. During service if the shuttle hits the net and falls before in the short service line then it will be a short service, and if the shuttle hits the net and gets in right / in the court then it will be a re-serve.
    6. Toss will be done by flipping the shuttle.
    7. Three minute change over time is allowed between games, which will include warm up.
    8. All the rules will be according to the international badminton rules. Taskforce reserve the right to make situational changes based on particular circumstances and decision will be considered final.
    9. Service should not be done above waist height; above waist service will not be allowed. The shuttle is required to be shown before doing the serve.
    10. If the scores are levelled i.e. 20-20, then the game will finish off at (22) two points higher, so and so forth.
    11. Players can’t change team or team members during the tournament. However any change may be possible before the start of tournament and will require formal taskforce approval and should comply to eligibility criteria.
    12. If a player gets injured during the game, then that team will be disqualified, since no replacement is allowed.
    13. All participants are required to arrive at the facility at 11:30 a.m in order to get registered for drop in with the facility management.
    14. It is the responsibility of the winning team members to register their points/score to the scorer in order to keep a track of the results.

Pool Matches:

  1. The first round will be played on a league basis, and quarter-finals/ semi-finals will be on a knock out basis.
  2. Two points will be awarded to wining team in quarter /semi-finals. No points will be awarded for losing team.
  3. Top four teams of each pool (based on point system) will qualify for quarter finals.
  4. The teams to play the quarter-finals and semi-finals will be selected by a draw during the tournament.

General Notes:

  1. Participants are required to bring personal racquets/court shoes & accessories (non-marking).
  2. Shoes/Racquets can also be rented from front desk of the Clearone badminton centre, at the player’s expense for 5 CAD each (not included in tournament fee).
  3. Players having non-marking shoes can play having those shoes on and does not require rental shoes.
  4. Badminton shuttles will be provided (included in event fee). Fluorescent Green Yonex 300 Plastic shuttles will be used for this tournament.
  5. Clothing: Please follow proper sports attire such as T shirts, lowers, shorts.
  6. No jeans, shirts, trousers are permitted during the tournament.
  7. Three minute break will be respected between two games. Teams will warm–up during these 3 minutes.
  8. Umpires’/Referees’ decision would be final and cannot be challenged. No comments from the non-playing persons/players will be entertained.
  9. Other game rules will be defined during an event draw (that will be announced soon).
  10. It is not obligatory to attend this draw event; however it will be binding for all teams to accept all rules/decisions which will be decided on the day of draw.
  11. If you are interested to bring your family, you are welcome, but there will be limited seating arrangement available in the sport facility.
  12. In each pool voluntary umpire (who has the basic understanding of Badminton game rules) is required. This voluntary umpiring will be done by non playing team players of the same pool.
  13. In case you have not played on similar surface please note it can be a safety issue if played aggressively, so be considerate while playing.

Entry Rules:

  1. Entry fee per team is CAD $30 ($15 per person).
  2. Entry Fee can be paid online through NEDAAAB website: www.nedaaab.org.
  3. Individual fee will not be accepted. Fee must be paid for a team (i.e. $30).
  4. Fee can be submitted by any team member (single player or non-playing person fee would not be accepted).
  5. Clearly mention your name AND your team mate’s name in Player 1 and Player 2 fields when submitting the fee.

Awards:

NEDAAAB trophy for winner and runner up team.

No outside food or drink permitted in the club. Food/drinks will be provided.
